We at Maitland Auto Clinic have build a "budget" race car
The car started it's life as a VW Golf CTI and is now a one of a kind.
The engine is a stock 2.0 16v and a bolt on T3/T4 turbo, with 300cc injectors controlled with a Mr Turbo EFI. The car made 185KW's and 263NM on 0.5 bar boost and the best 1/4 mile time of 12.35 seconds at 178km/h. This makes it the quickest turbo golf currently racing at Killarney racetrack.
The car has been featured in RaceWeb online magazine and was the cover car. (www.raceweb.co.za)
Since the magazine shoot the car has had a few mechanical changes, namely fitted with 550cc injectors and a new Dicktator engine management system. Unfortunately the times have not been improved as the car suffered a broken gearbox at the drags on the 4th July 2010. A new gearbox is currently being built with some custom ratios.
